Ogata on a six-nation tour

UNHCR’s head, Sadako Ogata, is expected in Kenya on Tuesday afternoon from Sudan, a UNHCR official in Nairobi said. The High Commissioner, who is on a six-nation tour of the Great Lakes region, will leave Kenya for Rwanda on Thursday. She will then go on to Burundi, Uganda and DRC, and leave the region on Friday. Her mission to the region is to assess the progress of UNHCR operations and to meet heads of state of the countries to be visited to discuss pending issues on the refugee situation, the official explained.
