EU-funded generator brings water to city residents

A 300-HP engine funded by the European Union has begun pumping some 8.2 million litres of water a day to residents of Monrovia’s Bushrod Island and adjacent neighbourhoods, the Liberian news agency, LINA, reported. This has already started to reduce the incidence of waterborne diseases and the distances Monrovia residents travel daily in search of water, LINA said. Citing an unnamed project manager, LINA said a second EU generator would arrive by the end of June to ensure safe drinking water to residents “in and out of Monrovia”.
