Missing Zambian UN peacekeeper walks free

    JOHANNESBURG

    A Zambian UN peacekeeper previously declared missing in action in Sierra Leone has walked out of the rebel-held bush and met up with pro-government forces, news reports said on Tuesday.

    Reports said that the Zambian soldier had been taken immediately to hospital in Freetown and was not yet in a condition to talk to officials or reporters about his experience.

    In Lusaka, Zambia's Defence Minister Chitalu Sampa told a news conference that the Zambian peacekeeper who walked out of the bush was in good health. "I would like to state that of the four missing, one has so far reported and he is in good health. Three are still missing," Sampa said.
