A new political party in Cote d’Ivoire, the Rassemblement pour le Consensus National (RCN-Rally for a National Consensus) says it is proposing head of state General Robert as its candidate at presidential elections in September.
Media organisations reported RCN leader Coulibaly Souleymane as making the announcement on Tuesday and as saying that he had not had any contact with Guei. The party, which defines itself as inspired by the ideals of late president Felix Houphouet-Boigny, who died in 1993, was registered in March.
