German firm paid dictator’s son US $228.5 million

    ABIDJAN
    A German industrial service company, Ferrostaal, gave the son of the late Nigerian dictator, Sani Abacha, some 460 million marks (US $228.5 million) to win a contract for the construction of a metals factory in Nigeria, AFP reported, citing the German weekly magazine, ‘Der Spiegel’. Abacha’s family is accused of having siphoned off some US$4.3 billion of public funds into private accounts in Europe.
