Old currency still valid

The Angolan Central Bank has delayed a decision to withdraw from circulation the old bills of the local currency, the readjusted kwanza, for a further three months, news reports said.

The bank's director for bills issue, Jose Leao Peres, said the bank notes will remain valid until August, instead of May as initially planned. He said the extension of the deadline was due to a large volume of the old currency still in circulation. Perez added that the process of withdrawing the old
bills has been slow.
