The Nigerian government on Friday removed import duties
and value-added tax on all agricultural inputs, including fertiliser, AFP reported Information Minister Dapo Sarumi as announcing in Abuja. Sarumi said the government would no longer be involved in the importation and distribution of fertiliser, an activity that had bred corruption over the years in Nigeria, especially under military regimes, AFP reported.
