The UNITA rebel movement has called for peace negotiations with the Angolan government, AFP said on Wednesday.
It quoted a statement from Paris-based members of the permanent committee of UNITA which said that peace had to go further than a "simple end to hostilities." The statement added: "Peace must come from a dialogue on the deep historical and political causes to conflict."
