Government seeks to improve fish quality

The government signed an agreement with FAO on Tuesday for the release of US $148,000 (14.4 million naira) for the strengthening of fish quality assurance in the country, `The Guardian' reported. Speaking at the signing ceremony, Agriculture and Rural Development Minister Sani Zango Daura said: "The main challenge facing the fish export industry of Nigeria is meeting the foreign consumer expectations, particularly the safety and quality requirements recently adopted by the European Commission."
