Angolan Telecom, with funding from Norway, has installed a modern
digital telephone system in the city of Benguela, some 400 kms south of the capital Luanda, news reports said on Wednesday.
A Telecom source was quoted as saying the system, valued at US $2
million, will operate on an experimental basis until mid-August. The system, which is already operational, services an estimated 6,000 subscribers in Lobito, Benguela and Baia Farta areas.
