A Lusaka high court ordered the immediate release of six journalists of ‘The Post’ newspaper on Friday. In his ruling Judge Elliot Chulu said: “The state has conceded to the application and the court accordingly orders the six to be immediately set free. However, it is sad to note the circumstances under which they were detained.” Chulu also ordered the state to pay all costs relating to the case. The reporters were arrested last week following Tuesday’s lead story in ‘The Post’ in which the government said state secrets had been exposed.
