Fish dying

There is growing concern in the landlocked nation of Malawi that the number of fish dying in Lake Malawi is increasing on a daily basis, PANA news agency reported on Monday. It said at least 500 kg of dead fish had been collected in one day recently Livingstonia beach and Chipoka in Malawi’s northern Salima district. But a fisheries official was quoted as saying the problem was more due to winds which had whipped up silt and blocking access to oxygen rather than as a result of pollution.
