Funds for elections

    ABIDJAN
    Niger has been receiving funds from abroad to help it organise presidential and legislative elections set for 17 October and 24 November respectively, the state election commission has reported. According to the Commission electorale nationale independante (CENI), the latest contributions include donations from Cote d’Ivoire (100 million francs CFA), the People’s Republic of China, (30 million CFA) and Libya, (180 million CFA).. (US $1 is equivalent to roughly 600 francs CFA.)
