At least 10 people have been confirmed dead and an unknown number are missing after a 30 April landslide following heavy rains in the village of Kitony in Kenya's north Rift Valley district of Marakwet, say officials.
"Efforts are ongoing to search for those who remain unaccounted for," Titus Mung'ou, Kenya Red Cross Society (KRCS) communications manager, told IRIN, adding that a tracing desk had been set up.
"Seven people have been transferred to the Moi University Referral Hospital [in Eldoret] for treatment." Eldoret is the Rift Valley provincial capital.
More people could be buried at the scene of the landslide, according to KRCS.
