“After years of massive crop losses caused by a devastating virus,” the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) reports good news for cassava in the Great Lakes region of Africa: New disease-free varieties are helping increase crop yields. “The improved crop now benefits a total of some 1.65 million people,” says FAO.
