Know your storm seasons

Here's a handy guide to global storm seasons.

For the North Atlantic storm region affecting the Caribbean and Central America, the annual season runs from June to November. The Northeast Pacific region, affecting mainly Western Mexico and the Northwest Pacific affecting East Asia runs in the same period.

The North Indian Ocean storm region meanwhile affects South Asia including Bangladesh, India, Sri Lanka and runs from May to November. South Indian Ocean on the other hand runs from October to April and affects mainly Eastern Africa including Madagascar, Mauritius, Mozambique and Tanzania.

Finally, the Southwest Pacific storm region affects the South pacific islands of Fiji, Samoa and Tonga. It runs from January to May.
