The Mozambican armed forces are to send high-ranking officers to Nigeria for specialised military training, Nigerian ambassador to Maputo Ezequiel Oladeji said on Thursday. African Eye News Service reported Oladeji as saying the officers would be able to benefit from Nigeria’s experience in peacekeeping operations as well as other specialised skills. The exchange forms part of bilateral defence cooperation agreements between Nigeria and Mozambique. Bilateral cooperation is not focused solely on the military, the news agency said. Nigerian doctors are also currently working in Mozambique’s Nampula Province as volunteers. Nigerian mineral prospectors are also in Mozambique with the aim of helping develop the country’s oil fields and gas in its central provinces.
