Caprivi dissidents arrested

The police in western Zambia are holding four Caprivi secessionist leaders who escaped from Botswana this month where they had been granted political asylum, ‘The Post’ newspaper reported on Friday. The newspaper said the four, Steven Mamili, Martin Tubaundale, Thadeus Mdala and Moses Mushwene, were in custody in Mongu. Diplomatic sources told IRIN last week that the men were believed to have been attempting to cross into Angola through Zambia to join other Caprivi dissidents allegedly being trained by the UNITA rebel movement.
