UNITA says 92 government soldiers killed

The UNITA rebel movement has claimed that 92 government soldiers were killed in battles between the end of May and early June. In a statment sent to the Lusa news agency in Lisbon, UNITA also said “large quantities of arms and munitions of various sizes” were captured in the fighting which took place the provinces of Bengo, Moxico, Lunda Norte, Bie, Malanje, Huila and Benguela. The statement also reported the capture of Jaribo diamond mine in Lunda Norte Province, and the towns of Catengue, 60km southeast of Benguela and Quesso in Bengo Province.
