Government appeals to Bockarie and RUF

In a government statement received by IRIN, Presidential spokesman, Professor Septimus Kaikai, has appealed to Commander Sam Bockarie and the RUF “to put aside their personal ambitions in the interest of sustainable peace in Sierra Leone.” Kaikai was reacting to a statement made by Bockarie last Thursday that the RUF wants a “face to face meeting in the jungle with Cpl. Foday Sankoh, and if President Kabbah wants peace, this is the only solution.”
