Meanwhile, Burundi’s defence minister, Colonel Cyrille Ndayirukiye, on Thursday said that that despite security problems in Bujumbura Rural Province, security was generally good in the country. Burundi radio quoted him as saying there were also problems in the eastern part of the country, on the border with Tanzania. “Normal activities are taking place in almost the entire Burundi territory. In provinces still facing problems, such as the eastern provinces which border Tanzania, including Makamba, Rutana, Ruyigi and Cankuzo, most activities are taking place normally,” he said.
