NGO umbrella body cautioned

An umbrella body representing more than 250 international and local charities in Ethiopia has been cautioned by the government for "political bias", officials said Wednesday. The Christian Relief and Development Association (CRDA) said they had been told to curb their political statements after at least 40 people were shot dead by police following unrest sparked by claims of fraud in the 15 May elections. "We have been told to keep the relevant authorities informed of our general activities and direction," Semira Alhadi, CRDA deputy director said.
