Another Caprivi trialist dies

    Another Caprivi treason trialist has died, bringing the number of deaths to nine since the first arrests of the alleged secessionists were made.

    Felix Munangisa was ill and was transferred to Katima Mulilo where he died of an undisclosed illness, Namibia Society for Human Rights spokeswoman Dorkas Nangolo told IRIN on Tuesday. He was the second trialist to die this year.

    He was among over 100 people arrested in 1999 following an armed attack on Katima Mulilo, the capital of the Caprivi region, allegedly by members of the Caprivi Liberation Army.

    Since then there have been numerous delays and postponements with the accused waiting in the Grootfontein prison for their next court appearance.

    "It's high time the trial started because people are dying," Nangolo said.
