Zimbabwe’s President Robert Mugabe left Harare on Wednesday for the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) where he will hold talks with his DRC counterpart and military ally Laurent-Desire Kabila, state radio said.
Mugabe will be in the DRC’s southern city of Lubumbashi for two days where he is expected to hold bilateral talks on trade, finance, mining and communication issues.
Zimbabwe has deployed more than 11,000 soldiers in the DRC on the side of Kabila’s forces against rebels backed by Uganda and Rwanda.
