The OAU Council of Ministers, which met in Lome, Togo, has endorsed the full and effective participation of all Burundian armed groups in the peace process to speed up the restoration of peace in Burundi, PANA news agency reported. In a draft resolution, the ministers hailed the efforts of the mediator, Nelson Mandela, condemned “acts of violence” by armed groups, and urged the government to finalise the closure of the regroupment camps by the end of July. They also called on the international community to resume its cooperation with Burundi to boost the ongoing peace process.
