Rebel leader Jean-Bosco Ndayikengurukiye of the Forces pour la defense de la democratie (FDD) arrived in Arusha on Tuesday to take part, for the first time, in the Burundi peace process, the Hirondelle news agency reported. It noted that most of the delegates attending the peace process reconvened in the Tanzanian town on Monday to prepare for the next round of talks. They are expected to finalise a peace deal, which the mediator Nelson Mandela hopes will be signed next month. The signing was originally expected on 20 July, but many delegates - including rebel groups - said it was too soon. Mandela is due to arrive in Arusha on Wednesday. Burundi radio reported that Commission Three of the peace process dealing with peace and security, and Commission Five on guarantees for implementing a future peace accord, resumed proceedings on Monday.
