An estimated 1,565 school pupils from nine schools in western Kavango are not attending classes because of ongoing banditry activities in the border region, ‘The Namibian’ said on Friday.
It said the school stay away was sparked by the killing of school principal Frans Katura at Tuguva Junior Secondary School on Monday by unidentified bandits. Acting Regional Education Director, Gideon Nesto said pupils could not attend classes because their parents were fleeing their villages due to insecurity.
