Cross border raid kills 15

    JOHANNESBURG

    The Namibian army said it killed 15 UNITA rebels inside Angola in three cross-border raids over the past month, ‘The Namibian’ reported on Wednesday.

    The daily said the raids followed a renewed surge in banditry in Namibia’s northern Kavango region. “Last week alone the army found nearly 40 explosive devices, including TNT and anti-tank mines, in a 30 km radius around Divundu in eastern Kavango,” the newspaper said.

    Namibia Defence Force (NDF) Regional Commander for Kavango, Lieutenant-Colonel Bernard Nkawa, was quoted as saying that the suspected rebels were killed inside Angola after the NDF followed their tracks from villages they had plundered in Namibia.
