Presidents Konare, Kabbah, Obasanjo in talks over security

Presidents Ahmad Tejan Kabbah of Sierra Leone and Alpha Omar Konare of Mali, who is also chairman of ECOWAS, arrived on Wednesday in Abuja for talks with their Nigerian counterpart, Olusegun Obasanjo, news organizations reported.

The aim of the two-day visit was to discuss the continued fighting in Liberia’s upper Lofa Country and in Sierra Leone, a news source in Lagos told IRIN on Thursday. No more details of the talks have been made public, sources said.

Nigeria has been a key player in ending Liberia’s seven-year war and provides the most troops to the UN peacekeeping operation in Sierra Leone.
