The Minister of Regional, Local Government and Housing Nicky Iyambo on Thursday said Namibians, especially residents of Kavango, should not forget the hospitality they were given for more than 10 years by Angolans when fighting for independence of this country.
The minister said no Namibian is happy about the banditry activities in the region, and warned those who are assisting the bandits to stop. “The sooner we stand together, the sooner peace will prevail in the region,” the minister said Iyambo, who was addressing traditional leaders and regional councillors on the new bill on traditional authorities, pointed out that Namibians were housed and protected by Angolans, and that during that time, many Angolans were bombed and killed by the South African soldiers.
