FDD spokesman denies dismissal of army chief

Spokesman for the rebel Forces pour la defense de la democratie (FDD), Jerome Ndiho, has denied reports that the movement had sacked its military chief, Major Prime Ngendakumana, Gabonese Africa No 1 radio said. “We heard that the FDD leader was presented with a series of recommendations made at a meeting of some FDD members. The recommendations included one on the disappearance of Anko Mando,” Ndiho said. “Indeed, the general coordinator took note of the recommendation on the chief of staff. However, the legal institutions have never given any legal information on him,” he explained. “In any event, Colonel Jean-Bosco Ndayikengurukiye, the general coordinator and also chairman of the political bureau, has not dismissed the chief of staff. The latter is still acting in his position. Finally, the general coordinator promised those who made the request to conduct an in-depth study and provide a quick response to their request,” he added.
