Authorities in Cross River have planted at least 1.5 million oil palm seedlings in the southeastern state in a bid to boost agriculture, ‘The Vanguard’ newspaper reported on Wednesday. Director of Agriculture Francis Bisong said the plants will bear fruit after three years of gestation, adding that another five hectares of land is being prepared to plant more seedlings. Other southern states, among them Edo and Anambra, have expressed interest in replicating the project.
