First HIV/AIDS organisation established

The first local association for people with HIV/AIDS, called “Oui a la vie” (yes to life), has been established in Djibouti, the official news agency, Agence Djiboutienne d’information (ADI), reported 26 July, quoting the newspaper ‘La nation’. In an interview with the newspaper, the president of Oui a la vie, Ahmed Ali Moumin, said the new organisation would facilitate the provision of better support and care for HIV/AIDS patients. “Obviously, the association’s priority is providing access to anti-retroviral drugs, then later making premises available in order to maintain the privacy and confidentiality of member patients, and providing support to families of patients with AIDS.”
