Cooperation with Portugal

Portugal and Cape Verde have signed two financial agreements worth US $39 million to support the archipelago’s economy and strengthen the convertibility of its currency, the escudo, the Panafrican News Agency (PANA) reported on Thursday. A US $14-million loan is aimed at supporting economic activities and reforms, while the second agreement is a plan to restructure a debt of about US $25 million that Cape Verde owes Portugal.
