A woman was killed and her six year-old son injured on Sunday after they stepped on an anti-personnel landmine near the Burundian capital Bujumbura, AFP reported. “We heard a landmine explosion and then a little girl covered in blood arrived saying her mother and brother were lying on the floor and could not move,” the agency quoted a resident of Gasenyi, just north of Bujumbura, as saying. They were on their way to pick cassava in a nearby field when they stepped on the mine.
