The ‘Avenir’ press group in Kinshasa has expressed concern over the “disappearance” of its publishing director, Joachim Diana Gikupa. In a statement, received by IRIN on Friday, ‘l’Avenir’ said he was invited by the security forces, l’Agence nationale de renseignement (ANR), on Thursday morning for “press consultations”. “He never returned,” the statement said. “All efforts to try and find him have been in vain”. The statement “expressed confidence in the republic’s institutions to pay strict attention to the law on respect for citizens’ rights”.
