A ship carrying rebels from the DRC ran aground in Lake Tanganyika on Wednesday night near the town of Kabezi, the private Netpress news agency reported. It said the ship reportedly ran into the security forces who denied it passage. The bodies of five dead rebels were found floating in the lake early the next morning, and some ammunition was seized by the security forces. Netpress said the rebels were trying to land near Bujumbura, with the intention of “destabilising the capital”.
