Cabinda secessionists release hostages

    JOHANNESBURG

    Two Portuguese hostages kidnapped by the Cabinda separatist movement FLEC-FAC were released and were on their way to Ponta Negra in Congo-Brazzaville after a year in captivity, Portuguese radio TVI reported on Monday. The station, monitored by the BBC, quoted sources from the Cabinda Catholic Church.

    Meanwhile, the other five Portuguese hostages held by another faction FLEC-Renewed are expected to be freed in the next few days. Antonio Bento Bembe, the movement’s leader, told two Portuguese television stations that they would be home by 10 June.
