Masire wants dialogue date by July

    NAIROBI

    The facilitator of the inter-Congolese dialogue, former Botswanan president Ketumile Masire, has called for setting a date by early July for the talks to take place, the South African Press Association (SAPA) reported. “All parties to the dialogue - the government, political and armed opposition and representatives of civil society - must meet mid-June to early July to set a date,” he said in the Botswanan capital Gaborone on Friday. “But once bitten twice shy,” he added. “I had a timetable last year which did not materialise. I am proceeding with caution.” He said the Congolese people “seem to be set for a dialogue and will be disappointed if it does not happen”.
