UN Food agency, ICRC, Premier Urgence helps 180,375

The World Food Programme, in collaboration with ICRC and the NGO Premiere Urgence, reported that as of 8 May it had helped 180,375 internally displaced Guineans whose lives have been disrupted by an insurgency along the country’s border with Sierra Leone. In its Emergency Report of Friday (11 May), WFP said it had delivered 80 mt of food to ICRC to help some 7,500 people in the Kissidougou region of southern Guinea. This group of people were members of vulnerable households identified after a survey was taken. As of 8 May, WFP had also transferred 5,000 refugees from the camp of Kolomba in the Parrot’s Beak, an area of land that juts into eastern Sierra Leone, to relocation sites farther north at Boreah and Telikoro/Albadaria.
