Sixteen Kenyan soldiers have been selected to serve as part of the UN peacekeeping mission in the DRC, the Kenyan ‘East African Standard’ newspaper reported on Wednesday. It quoted the department of defence spokesman, Bigita Ongeri, as confirming the appointments, saying it was a great honour to the armed forces of Kenya. He said the officers included a woman. The new appointments bring to 24 the number of Kenyan military officers serving in the DRC to observe the implementation of the peace process there.
