First Lusophone summit in nine years

    JOHANNESBURG

    Heads of state from the five Portuguese-speaking - or Lusophone - countries in Africa are beginning their first summit since 1992 in the Angolan capital, Luanda, Lusa reported on Tuesday. Ahead of the meeting, Angolan Foreign Minister Joao Miranda said a key task would be to improve the cultural links between the five - Angola, Mozambique, Guinea Bissau, Sao-Tome and Cape Verde. The heads of state were expected to approve a mechanism for holding such meetings more regularly, the report said.
