The Mozambique government said it would submit a revised economic plan for parliamentary approval that would take account of new realities facing the country following the worst floods in recent memory earlier this year, news reports said on Wednesday.
More than 700 people died and hundreds of thousands were left homeless in the floods which devastated the country in the wake of two cyclones in February and March. In May, Mozambique secured US $450 million from international donors as part of its post-floods recovery programme to repair damaged public infrastructures, including roads in the worst-affected provinces of Maputo, Inhambane and Gaza.
