The renegade Rassemblement congolais pour la democratie-Mouvement de liberation (RCD-ML) of Ernest Wamba dia Wamba has called on Uganda to “immediately put an end” to the creation of the Congolese Liberation Front (CLM) which, it said, was aimed at intensifying the war in the country. In a statement, issued on Saturday, the RCD-ML pointed out the CLM - which brings together the Mouvement de liberation du Congo (MLC) and other factions of the RCD-ML and whose formation was brokered by Kampala - has no authorisation under the Lusaka accord. It described the new movement as a “cover, so that our territories [in northeast DRC] are reduced to the logistics depot of the MLC”. The statement recalled that Wamba’s faction of the RCD-ML had not signed the agreement to establish the CLM “which has no juridical value”, and said it would hold Uganda responsible for any consequences of the Front’s creation.
