UN Security Council president Said Ben Mustapha of Tunisia said he appreciated Kabila’s initiative in visiting the UN on his first trip as president. Members of the Council “attached great importance to the meeting”, and were “fully supportive of efforts to move the peace process forward,” he said. President Kabila had paid tribute to the Lusaka agreement, underscored his commitment to cooperate with the OAU and stated his support for the UN, Mustapha added.
