A recent UNHCR report, meanwhile, raised concern for the plight of 132,000 Afghan refugees in Balochistan suffering the consequences of the drought.
UNHCR and Pakistani authorities were implementing an operation to relocate widely scattered and lightly-populated refugee villages in an attempt to assure better access to water, health care and education, it said. The report added that some 6,000 families in the Loralai, Piskin, Chagai, and Chaman districts of Balochistan would be relocated from isolated villages to more consolidated and secure camps.
OCHA said in a seperate report that “more than 80,000, or nearly 60 percent, of the refugees are seriously affected.”
