Police raid MDC offices.

Zimbabwean police, suspecting the main opposition Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) party of bombing its own office, carried out a second raid on the party’s headquarters on Friday in search of weapons, news reports said at the weekend. Reports said that police forcibly entered the premises and confiscated party documents and computer disks. Police first raided the party’s offices on Wednesday, forcing the MDC to apply for an urgent court injunction to stop the law officers from carrying out further searches. No weapons were found in the raid. The MDC’s headquarters were damaged in a hand grenade attack last Monday night, but police said they suspected the MDC of carrying out the bombing to win international sympathy.
