Legislative elections set for October

    ABIDJAN

    Togo’s independent electoral commission announced on Tuesday that early legislative elections will take place on 14 October. A second round will be held on 28 October if needed. Legislative polls held in March 1999 were boycotted by the opposition following dissatisfaction over a controversial presidential election in June 1998.
