Jose Manuel Alberto, the director of Benguela’s commercial radio station ‘Radio Morena’, has been dismissed for his alleged “excessive transparency”, the independent Catholic radio station ‘Radio Ecclesia’ said on Wednesday. The report said that the order to replace Alberto was signed by MPLA secretary-general, Joao Lourenco, as well as Benguela’s provincial government. The radio station said that the UNITA attack on the local airport and the coverage of opposition party activities were among the issues that the MPLA did not want mentioned on radio.
