Government computers disabled

The computer network in Swaziland’s Central Statistical Office (CSO) is still disabled by the millennium bug, preventing it from charting inflationary trends, media reports said on Tuesday.

“Our systems were not Y2K-complaint and have been down since the beginning of the year,” acting CSO director Reuben Simelane told AFP. He said the office had been unable to chart inflationary trends since then.

Simelane said the CSO had contracted experts from neighbouring South Africa to help get its systems up and running again. “I cannot say when the system will be working again. Hopefully, we will sort out the problem by mid-July,” he said.
